ATTORNEY ELA HERNANDEZ OF MINTZER, SAROWITZ, ZERIS, LEDVA & MEYERS, LLP SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT OF THE HISPANIC NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION YOUNG LAWYERS’ DIVISION.

Ela M. Hernandez, Associate at the firm’s Southern Florida office, was sworn in as President of Hispanic National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Division (YLD) during its 43rd annual convention held in Philadelphia, PA from September 5 – 8, 2018. The HNBA is an incorporated, not-for-profit, national membership association that represents the interests of Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, law students and legal professionals in the United States and its territories. Established in 1972, the HNBA is the largest national association of Latino legal professionals in the United States and its territories and acts as a force for positive change within the legal profession by creating opportunities for Hispanic lawyers and by helping generations of lawyers to succeed. The HNBA also effectively advocates on issues of importance to the national Hispanic community. The Association is led by its Board of Governors, comprised of members of the HNBA Executive Committee, 19 regional presidents and the representatives of 47 HNBA affiliate organizations across the country.

Having concluded her term as President-elect, Ms. Hernandez will now serve as President during the 2018-2019 year and in that capacity will serve on the Association’s Board of Governors. She will be responsible for furthering the Association's goals, representing young lawyers in the Association and advocating to shape the policies and priorities that affect young lawyers. Ms. Hernandez has been intricately involved with the HNBA’s South Florida Mentoring Program since 2012 and has served as Deputy Regional President for Region VIII (Florida), Treasurer for Region VIII and co-chair to the Region VIII YLD. In 2017 she was also recognized with the Association’s “Top Lawyers under 40” award which honors accomplished lawyers who have demonstrated professional excellence, integrity, leadership, commitment to the Hispanic community, and dedication to improving the legal profession.
